Indecisive Euphoria, the debut EP from mike.curtin due out April 10th, is the result of many years of musical seclusion. Drawing compositional cues from the likes of Steve Reich and Philip Glass, combined with the delivery of bands like The Number 12 Looks Like You and Hot Cross, Mike is, for the first time, showing a glimpse of the musical landscape within him. This math rock debut is complex, yet stunningly accessible. It’s impossible not to admit that mike.curtin is onto something while listening to these tracks.
mike.curtin played his first solo show with Atlas Records using his desktop computer and a guitar. His compositional knowledge was made clear by the complexity of his songs, and his talent even more so as he kept impeccable time with the midi sounds coming from his computer. Mike has since been playing shows around the New Jersey/New York area in preparation for this EP.
Mike is a self taught multi-instrumentalist from Sparta, New Jersey. His musical roots stem from the 3rd grade when he started playing Saxophone, and expanded when he began to experiment with a guitar his uncle gave him in 2001. Using his knowledge of theory, he began to transpose music to guitar. In 2002 he started playing with Matt Pietrucha (otherwise known as True Key), Vin Picone, and Jon Lorman, forming a band named AND! Others. Since then he has been writing and composing songs alone and with his younger brother Chris Curtin (of Saint Names), whom he claims to be one of his biggest musical influences.
